Surprised by such an offer but desperate for a warm meal and place to sleep George accepts and takes Noele's card. Hearing this Noele is saddened and offers George a room at a hotel she operates nearby. She asks if she can give George any money for Christmas shopping as thanks, but George says he has no money and no family anymore. She thanks George and introduces herself as Noele Houlton. The woman sees it is a gift for her granddaughter, custom made necklaces she's been begging for and losing them would have been devastating. George notices the gift and feels that it looks expensive and losing it could ruin her Christmas, so he chases the woman down to return the present. As he walks an older woman passes by him with a handful of gifts and she drops one just as George passes by. George is homeless and alone with no family thinking to himself how he failed to get a job after an accident and now he'd give anything to have a do over where he could get things right. On Christmas eve a young man named George wonders the streets in the cold.
